Surge Student Ministry

For students, pressure comes from all sides. It tells them to compromise. It takes their lives and tries to convince them that they are just preparing for what is to come. And the high school and middle school years are seen as practice for real life. The problem is that this isn't practice, this isn't rehearsal, this is it.

At Surge, our desire is to see students live like Christ every day of the week. We want them to understand that the Bible is relevant and has the answers to life’s toughest questions. We want to challenge them to serve selflessly and give generously. Ultimately, though, Surge is about developing students into passionate followers of Jesus Christ. That is our mission – that is our heart beat.

SURGE SMALL GROUPS - Following Christ is a journey, and we have discovered that the journey is more fun and more effective when we surround ourselves with friends. At Surge, we encourage all students to do life in small groups. Students in grades 6-12 meet in The Basement at 9:00am on Sundays for a large group study and then students split into small groups based on gender and grade. These groups are intentionally designed to help students grow in their relationship with Christ and their relationships with their friends and peers. We recruit and train mature Christian men and women who love Christ and love investing in the lives of students. Surge Small Groups are currently studying chronologically through the Bible.

LEADERSURGE - LeaderSurge is our Sunday evening program for middle school and high school students. This is a time of prayer and discipleship focused on challenging students in their walk with Christ. LeaderSurge meets at 5:00pm in The Basement. The following is a schedule of our discipleship studies for Winter/Spring 2012:

January 8, 22, 29 - Christian Atheist by Craig Groeschel

January 15 - Students will attend the Deacon Ordination Service

February 5, 12, 19, 26 - Generation Change by Dave Ramsey

March 4, 11, 18, and April 1, 15, 22 - The Way I’m Wired by Katie Brazelton

April 29 and May 6, 20 - Give. Pray. Fast by Simply Youth Ministry

There will be no evening activities on March 25, April 8, May 13, or May 27.

SURGE WORSHIP - Surge Worship is our mid-week worship service for middle school and high school students. We meet from 6:15 - 7:30pm on Wednesday nights in The Basement. Loaded with incredible worship, interactive activities, and relevant teaching, Surge Worship is ready to address the issues students face everyday. The following is a schedule of our message series for Winter/Spring 2012:

Wrestling with God Federation (WWGF) - Let’s get ready to rumble! Surge will study people in the Bible who wrestled with God. During this four week series, we’ll examine what Scripture says about purpose, obedience, troubles, and a relationship with Christ. The WWGF series will be January 18, January 25, February 1, and February 8.

Love Story - Do you remember your first love? Surge will examine what the Bible says about guys and girls. During this three week series, we’ll discuss biblical love, healthy relationships, and God’s design for sex. Love Story will take place February 29, March 7, and March 14.

Wise Guy - I pity the fool! Surge will walk through the wisdom book of the New Testament, the Book of James. During this three week series, we’ll gain practical wisdom about living for Christ in our daily lives. Wise Guy will take place April 4, April 11, and April 18.
